Quinta from the Air

Two aerial views of Quinta Viewpoint Allotments, taken by one of our members Mr Ian Hall. He flew overhead in a small aircraft; you can just see the edge of the wing in the first photo. You can just about see one or two of us waving from the ground too !

Please Note

Please be Mindful of Allowed Burning Days
1st May to 30th September, you must not light a bonfire, except for the allowed burning days in the garden waste burning Calendar. See link for exact days. You must not create a nuisance to members of the public or plot holders. Bonfires must not be left lit or unattended at any time. Please do NOT burn plastic, tyres or carpet.

Irrigation
Only irrigate when your crops need it, one good soak is much better than a lot of short waters which will just encourage the roots up tpo the surface. Not all crops need watering all the time, check the needs of each plant. Mulching with straw or cut grass will keep weeds down and water in.

Dogs
Members and guests may bring well behaved dogs onto the allotment, but dogs must be kept under control at all times, and owners must clean up after them. Dogs must not cause nuisance to other plot holders or anyone else at the allotment.

Mains Water
Please collect as much rainwater as possible using water butts and larger storage tanks. If you need additional water, we do have access to a mains supply. Speak to a steward for information about available times and costs for filling your tanks.

Structures
Sheds, Greenhouses, and Polytunnels must not be erected without prior permission and must be in ‘safe order’. Greenhouses must not be erected against any other structure. A small toolshed is permitted with the agreement with your steward.

Contact Details
Members must give notice of any change of contact details, to the secretary, or field steward within fourteen days of such changes please.

Bees
After some discussion with members and committee members, we have decided that bees cannot be kept at Quinta Allotments at this time. This is mainly because the allotments border housing and public footpaths and areas, and it is not practical at this time. Should this change in the future, we will notify plotholders.

Hens
Members can keep up to a maximum of 10 hens on their plot, not taking up more than 10% of the plot area. Animals must not be neglected, but well watered, fed, healthy and disease free.
